This had never been an issue before, so I was quick to identify the spiritual elements trying to bring fear into my little boy. I took a firm but loving approach because fear, insidious creature that it is, trumps logic. You can't tell someone who is scared out of his mind to "just relax because it's not real." He won't get it because his emotions have been commandeered. So what I did was initiate a conversation about truth. This is what I told Maddox: "If God is always right, and what God says is truth, then anything else is not true and therefore can't stick around. So when the enemy tries to bring fear in, you remember what God says about that. He says (here I quoted several Scriptures about fear). And since that is the truth, that is what is allowed to stay here. So you tell the enemy the truth, and because he's a liar, he has to take his yuck and go. Same with telling you you can't do something. The truth is you can do all things through Jesus. The lie can't stand." And so forth. I applied it to a bunch of different areas. So what wound up happening was that Maddox felt the peace come into the room as he spoke the truth, and that in turn helped him understand his own authority, which he'd been telling me he wanted to know more about ("Mom, I want power from God." "You have it, Maddox. You have to release it, speak it."), rather than relying on someone else to "fix it" for him. Love (and truth, which is an aspect of it) really does conquer all, and my son is free of that fear.

Thanks for sharing your story, Miles. Someone will read this and get so primed to receive his or her own freedom. Kudos!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
